Short Stories
Origin
How does an 18-year-old telepathic genius become the young woman that she is?
This collection of short stories contains six tales about impactful events each year in Kari’s life from the time she is 12 to 17. A seventh short
story, indirectly related to Kari, completes the bundle.
This is a prequel to book 1 of The Kari Chronicles, Project O.R.C.A., and spin-off of the Dreams trilogy.
Cry Me a Fountain: As Kari adjusts to her newly developed telepathy, time with her therapist highlights conflicts more typical for a 12-year-old and a birthday celebration with her best friend ends in an unexpected way.
Big Talks, Bigger Problems: At thirteen, Kari is ready to graduate high school, insults a friend, grows annoyed with her therapist, and gets an unexpected sex talk from one of her mothers.
Brain Trauma: As her paranormal power grows, it causes the family to reevaluate the space Kari has at home, how she’ll handle school, and prompts her to start the research needed to shut off her telepathy for good.
A Night at the Movies: After toxic experiences with her band and jiu-jitsu group, Kari is fed up with people. After a therapy session, she heads to her night class where she meets an attractive stranger and leaves her college
campus with plans for their first date.
Adult Situations: Kari has moved onto her graduate program and is determined to get her neuroscience research, Project O.R.C.A., started. Adding to the excitement in her life is her sixteenth birthday celebration where her mothers
surprise her with both a present and their candor about her and her boyfriend’s relationship.
From the Ashes: Kari is frustrated with her research and her long-distance relationship with her boyfriend. When everything in her life seems to be going downhill, a long-awaited email and support from her mothers show her that
the best is yet to come.
A bonus story . . .
The Hinewai: One of Madeleine’s weekly meetings is interrupted by an analyst who has an emergency update. He’s found a young woman who meets the specifications for a special project. Now, they just have to convince
her to come on board the ship.
Changes

Getting Down to Business: Leela is determined to right a wrong done to her business. Even if that wrong was committed by Aurora’s company.
White Wedding: In this Dreams series, Leveled, and Beards cross-cover, Aurora and Leela reflect on how much their lives have changed in the seven years they’ve known each other and weigh what is most
important to them as they travel across the country for a friend’s wedding.
Milestones: A Path from Dreams to Miracles (Book 1.5 in the Dreams Trilogy!)

input from her friends, and a flirtatious waitress, to get the ball rolling.
The Interview: After a mock interview conducted by her family, Perse is ready to face the last hurdle to secure her dream job. All she needs to do is keep her anxiety in check and hope the interviewers don’t ask any off the
